Brenne Estate Cask - Day 1 of 24 - Flaviar 'Whiskies of the Galaxy' Advent Calendar 2021

Introduction

Started in 2012 by Allison Parc, along with a French distiller of Cognac, Brenne French Single Malt Whisky is made with malted barley grown in Cognac, double distilled in copper alembic stills (normally used for Cognac), then initially matured in Limousin oak casks before having a finishing period in Cognac casks. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and is bottled at 40% ABV.

On the Nose

Fresh banana, almonds nuts, lemon sherbert, orange peel, and green apple. Stick with me on this one… as I know it’s strange, but a note of Bubblegum is very prevalent! It’s not displeasing at all!

On the palate

Light and fruity, fresh green apple from the nose shows up again, this time with vanilla pods. Sipping brings out a buttery smoothness, some very light spice, but the fruit notes are the stars of the show here!

Conclusion

Actually a very light, enjoyable whisky. The mouthfeel is quite thin, but as whiskies go, it’s as fruity as they come! If you are looking for an easily sip-able whisky, that doesn’t feel too heavy and spicy, you won’t go far wrong with this one!
