Few Spirits Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Introduction

Based out of Evanston, IL, FEW takes its name from "Frances Elizabeth Willard" who was the co-founder of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. The WCTU was a key player in establishing the national Prohibition and is also based out of Evanston.

Awarded a gold medal by the Beverage Tasting Institute in 2014, FEW Bourbon is a high-rye bourbon that uses a “special peppery yeast” to give it a spicy character. It’s also aged in young Minnesota oak barrels.

On the Nose

Instantly got sweet caramel, with rich malty warmth, leading to hints of spiced cloves, cinnamon, Anise, Nutmeg, and all the spice I expected from reading about this bourbon. All in all, a spicy but pleasant nose.

On the palate

Those Cloves from the nose continue to develop, along with the familiar cinnamon. The caramel is more toffee on the taste, and there's an interesting tangy wood note I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Conclusion

A very tasty (and I mean, very flavoursome) bourbon. Quite a thick and creamy mouthfeel, combined with the spicy character, equals a rather enjoyable, tasty whiskey. I think the next bottle of Bourbon I buy as a full bottle will be this! I loved it.
