The Tottori Blended Japanese Whisky

Introduction

The Kurayoshi Tottori combines a blend of Scottish and Japanese malts and grains. A flagship expression takes its name from the Tottori Prefecture of Japan. Mostly used as a cocktail mixer, which often doesn't bode well for neat tasting...

On the Nose

Almond, smoke and pepper with some light vanilla. Fresh cream, very slight lemon sponge cake, a hint of wood resin.

On the palate

Quite bread-like (or toast?), with almond, cinnamon, and the addition of caramel from the nose.

Conclusion

To be honest, it didn't do anything special for me. It was a perfectly adequate whisky for on the rocks, in cocktails, but really not something I'd look to drink neat. A very peppery finish didn't leave the lasting taste I look for with neat whisky...
